PIERA HOUSE

The project talks about setting limits and their permeability. The first border is established between the street and the free space of the house, in Burriana, as in many municipalities the regulations establish a maximum dimension for the opaque fence and the rest of the height with a permeable materiality. Caption We decided, perhaps influenced by the gate that Andreu Alfaro together with Emilio Giménez designed both in the house and in the sculptor's studio, to make this border as an opaque filter for the views and penetrable for light and air, with a constant materiality in full height. Caption This fine line built with aluminum profiles, which are arranged at an angle that prevents the view from the outside, draws a... More

Lee Armchair

Design as memory: conceptual simplicity and influences tied to childhood memories inspired the design of the Lee armchair and settee. The solid wood structure – in ash and Canaletto walnut – is entirely hand-crafted, as are the woven backrest and seat made of paper rush cord. This old-fashioned but completely natural material with excellent resistance to wear is revived here as a tribute to tradition, with the satisfaction of creating something that will last a lifetime and be passed down to the next generations. Both the Lee armchair and settee offer the option of adding soft cushions with removable upholstery. More

Office Building in Attica

The historical building was constructed in 1972 at the northern part of Athens. An earthquake-active region of Greece. 12000sq m in a 30.000 sq m pine tree forest. It was designed by one of the most accomplished Greek architects Alexandros Tombazis and it’s one of the rare cases of the brutalist movement in Greece. The building was built under a private command of the largest Greek reinforced concrete company named Aget Iraklis that was recently bought by the largest reinforced concrete company in the world (Lafarge Holcim). Thus it was a flagship for the company for the obvious reasons. In 1978 a Third floor was added in the construction. In 2000 and after the deadly 1999 earthquake in Athens the buildings structural elements were re... More

House P in Allgäu

On the edge of a densely built residential area in the Allgäu hills, we created a well-conceived wooden house for a variety of uses. The adjacent popular recreation and landscape conservation area prompted us to incorporate the surrounding nature into the design of the house. The new building follows the proportions of the desolate existing building from the 1960s. The staggered storey set back from the street communicates with the slope, whose original steepness we have restored. The restrained, horizontally structured architecture with a façade made of local wood blends harmoniously into the natural surroundings. Floor-to-ceiling glazing, visual axes and open living spaces that offer numerous views stage nature and bring it in... More

Lakeview Residence

We were inspired to create our first authentic living space to reflect our client’s desire to live and work in his painting studio. The design emulates his painting style and personal lifestyle by using natural materials, minimalist values, and bridging social context within a live-work environment. The overall form takes on an ethos of monumental simplicity which inherently captures panoramic lake views from the steep mountainside terrain. As part of authentic living, this studio is entirely devoid of added paints or stains. The exterior walls are made of exposed rammed earth construction set atop a giant plinth of exposed concrete. The interior features natural plywood finishes and exposed structural beams. We focused all of our... More

GN House

Surrounded by houses built in the 1940’s with sloping roofs covered by concrete tiles, the GN house stands out with its bright color and modernist simple shape. The house is slightly lifted from the street level and defined by a few basic materials and colors: concrete in white, steel and aluminum in black, and wood in its natural color.  The scheme of the project is based on the merge of three boxes, which are distinguished from one another by size or coating material. At the front, the top floor stands out with its dazzling white plaster coating, and in contrast to the floor below it, which is coated with Cedar wood beams. The wood beams are assembled at an angle which gives the stiff mass a movement effect; the same idea is c... More
