STUDIO NEBA

An Ode to the Heritage.

STUDIO NEBA as Architects

Located in the traditional district of ryfylkeis in finnøy, norway, this private residence  was designed around the philosophy of ‘an ode to heritage’. Bearing in mind that the area used to be a ‘power house’ in the 14th century, the client requested that the new building respects and references its heritage. The site is situated in a beautiful landscape which overlooks the sea and a series of mountains.

The interior design by studio neba, is based on the earth assets: its movement, pureness and timeless nature that is apparent in its shapes, elements and textures. the master-bedroom is a tucked away den-like space, providing solace from long days and moon nights. Sufficient sunlight access was ensured throughout the residence, as exposure to natural light has many health benefits, including helping with seasonal depression and reducing health risks of fluorescent light. The house is essentially a fortified sanctuary for the cold climate, the sunny days, an observatory for the moon, the stars and the northern lights.
