The exhibited photovoltaic module should show the perfect combination between a homogeneous facade design and power generation from the building envelope. Photovoltaic energy – the direct conversion of sunlight into electrical energy - is still affected by the common formats and designs. The exhibited module should illustrate the wide range of possibilities of this technology and how the requirements from the architecture could be met. In the exhibited element the - usually highly reflective - metallic interconnections were covered by a special printing technique. This results in combination with a homogeneous ceramic frit on the lower glass, in a homogeneous surface. Looks very promising for an usually very technical sounding element. This type of photovoltaics are made of two glasses each with the thickness of 2 until 12 mm with the cells in between. This is why the homogenous solar modules are stable enough to be used in normal facades as well as in balkonies. With the technique of ertex solar every size until 2,440 x 5,100 mm is possible. You can get glasses also in special shapes. Depending on the size and on the glass which is used also the weight can vary widely.
