Striatus: ETH Zurich’s Block Research Group collaborates with Zaha Hadid Architects to develop efficient, accessible, and sustainable tools for structurally informed design

ETH Zurich’s Block Research Group (BRG) seek to disrupt architectural construction technologies through using a geometry-based approach to tackle complex structural design and engineering challenges and to develop efficient, accessible, and sustainable tools for structurally-informed design. In collaboration with Zaha Hadid Architects’ Computation and Design Group (ZHACODE), 3D printing innovators incremental3D, and sustainable infrastructure evangelists Holcim, they have created “Striatus”, a 3D Concrete Printed (3DCP) arched pedestrian footbridge showcasing a high-tech take on traditional masonry. Zaha Hadid Architects win competition to build new station on Moscow’s renowned metro system

Zaha Hadid Architects have won the competition to build the Klenoviy Boulevard Station 2, located in the heart of the Nagatinsky Zaton district in the city’s southeast. Defined by intuitive navigation, the station connects the neighbourhood with all of Moscow via the city’s expanding metro network. Designed to make transport comfortable, enjoyable, and safe, the station integrates new technologies that adjust interior conditions to enhance passenger experience and provide clear, real-time information of the network. New digital platform informs the design of the Roatán Próspera Residences by Zaha Hadid Architects

For the Roatán Próspera residences, Zaha Hadid Architects with AKT II and Hilson Moran Partnership have developed a new digital architectural platform. Located on the island of Roatán, one of the largest of the Bay Islands of Honduras, the platform was key in developing housing with a specific ecological and social response to the climate, terrain, and culture of the region. Southbank Tower Lobby

Southbank Tower announces partnership with Zaha Hadid Architects (ZHA) to transform the tower’s lobby.ZHA’s first refurbishment of an apartment building interior introduces a new mezzanine and lift, concierge desk and lighting scheme for the lobby of the repurposed Southbank Tower. One of the UK’s most ambitious renovation projects, the 30-storey office building completed by Richard Seifert in 1972 was converted by KPF in 2015 into a 41-storey mixed-use tower that incorporates two and three bedroom apartments.The lobby’s design by ZHA draws inspiration from the organic forms of flower petals that overlap to conceal the lobby’s lighting scheme. Rail Baltic Ülemiste terminal

Zaha Hadid Architects (UK) working with Esplan (Estonia) have been have been awarded first place in the design competition for the new terminal of the Rail Baltic railway at Ülemiste, Tallinn. Rail Baltic is a planned 870 km electrified railway from Tallinn in Estonia to the Lithuanian-Polish border. The terminal will be the starting point of the Rail Baltic line connecting Tallinn, Riga and Vilnius with the European high-speed rail network. One Thousand Museum

For an architect who occupies a Z-dimension all her own, Zaha Hadid, Hon. FAIA, has seldom constructed high along that Z axis. She has built many multi-level and midrise institutional buildings, but very few towers. That is about to change with the on One Thousand Museum, a 62-storey, 83-unit, super-luxury condominium tower on Biscayne Boulevard in Miami, opposite Museum Park, with views across Biscayne Bay to Miami Beach.The project is no less Zaha at this unprecedented scale. Al Janoub Stadium in Al Wakrah

Inaugurated on 16 May 2019 by hosting the Amir Cup Final of the Qatar Stars national football league, Al Janoub Stadium was the first new stadium commissioned for the 2022 FIFA World Cup Qatar. Zaha Hadid Architects (ZHA) together with Aecom began designing the stadium along with its new precinct for the city in March 2013.
