PwC Portugal

The intervention at the PwC offices in Lisbon comprised organising and optimising the space and its occupation through the redesign of social, work, and collaborative working areas.Inspiration, innovation, and leadership are keywords in the PwC positioning that we wanted to see reflected in the workspace and, for that reason, were the basis of inspiration for the project. The level of customisation was high, impregnating the space with a design that reflects the brand's DNA, transmits its values, and increases the attractiveness of the office itself. The first step was to break down existing barriers, enhancing collaborative work and providing maximum comfort. After that, with a refined geometric design, the brand has been transposed into a... CMS Rui Pena & Arnaut

Impact, employees’ wellbeing, and a culture of collaboration were the 3 axes that guided the architecture project for CMS Rui Pena & Arnaut's new headquarters in Lisbon, designed by OPENBOOK Architecture. The new CMS Rui Pena & Arnaut office is designed for people - employees and clients - to meet the needs and expectations of those who inhabit it. The architecture has given special emphasis to the creation of different types of spaces, designed to encourage informal, individual and teamwork, with different levels of silence and concentration requirements. The first impact matters. That is why CMS Rui Pena e Arnaut's Offices were designed to reveal the prestige and distinction associated with it, right from the lobby. An imp... En savoir plus

Porta Romana 19

The redevelopment of the building, with the entrance from Corso di Porta Romana 19 within the historical center of Milan, represents an innovation for the way of approach and the design sensitivity, making a perfect synthesis between historical tradition and contemporary design. The intervention completely renews the building by creating a new glass roof in a contemporary language, harmoniously fitting into the historical context and respecting the architecture of the building underneath. The characteristic features of the intervention are the redesign of the internal facades, the new loggia on the penultimate floor and the new glass structure on the roof. The latter, born from the demolition and reconstruction of the existing pitched roo... En savoir plus

Northern Trust 333 Wabash

Working with the Northern Trust Corporation team HED led a thoughtful and comprehensive approach to the design of the space at 333 South Wabash, located just off Chicago’s famous Grant Park. Spread across 17 floors, totaling just under a half a million square feet, the company decided to first build out a prototype of the new design ideas within the space to test them in action. HED’s research-driven process began with an assessment of workplace strategy and current portfolio usage, intensive weekly pre- and post-occupancy surveys, walkthroughs, open houses, verbal feedback and huddle sessions. This feedback rich prototype testing process ultimately allowed the project team to demonstrate available solutions to compare cost, loo... En savoir plus

Corporate Environments

Our design process began with a deep dive into the legacies that precede Corporate Environments. We explored the history of Florence and Hans Knoll and their contemporaries–the modern masters they worked closely with, including Mies van der Rohe, to produce the iconic workplace furniture loved for decades and still produced by Knoll’s exacting standards today. We studied the details of the existing 1960s warehouse building and it’s consistent, though subtle, references to Mies van der Rohe. We developed an appreciation for the modernist dream of pre-fab mass customization present in DIRTT. What we found through our design research was that Mies formed a common thread in all three legacies, thus providing a lens through whi... En savoir plus

The Interlock Lobbies

A series of volumetric explorations, the lobbies at The Interlock are the public-facing circulation hubs strategically placed throughout this large, mixed-use development’s ground plane. The most prominent lobby is a two-story space located at the crossroads of a hotel and multiple retail and office tenants. We designed it as a monolithic charred wood block, with sculpted elements revealing an underlying layer of rich, warm wood signifying active gathering spaces. Branching out are thin concrete bridges connecting people to and from other areas, which makes this lobby the very heart of the development. We carried this language of sculpted space to the various smaller public lobbies for clarity and connection throughout the project. En savoir plus

I IN designs cinematic workplace in Tokyo

In Tokyo, the Mitsui Fudosan Company tasked I IN Architects with designing a new type of office space for Warp Studio. Rather than conventional desk work, the aim here was to create a type of office space where several different project teams and groups of people could work together concurrently in an environment that feels like a single space.  Tomooki Kengaku At the heart of the large open space is a sunken sofa area where workers can spend their office time in a way that suits them best, allowing for choice and relaxation. The feeling of working alone at home and the freedom that comes from that was taken as inspiration in the design of the spaces.   Tomooki Kengaku Throughout the office space, soft textures and mat... Back to our Spaces
