Shooting Star

Shooting Star is an 8,650 square foot vacation home designed by Blaze Makoid Architecture. Situated on the Jackson Hole valley floor at the base of Jackson Hole Mountain Resort, the home is surrounded by the picturesque Teton Mountain Range. The homeowners, an active family of five, love nature and are avid skiers, as well as kayakers, runners, golfers and bikers. Their directive was to design a uniquely modern home within the confines of strict community guidelines, that could easily accommodate these activities, as well as the gear that accompanies them.   A long, covered walk leads to a single story, glass entry hall that both links and divides two, two story wings.  The North wing consists of a vaulted Great Room, Kitchen an... Social housing Huidevetters

The Marolles have a long and eventful history. The land ,that was made available by the social housing company “De BrusselseHaard” to build four social apartments and a local clubroom, is the result of the demolition of a large neighbourhood for the construction of the Tanneur social quarter.   The small narrow corner plot forms a break in the old urban fabric, it is a lost corner that is stuck between 2 residential typologies: the typical Brussels folk house on the one hand and a mastodon of a concrete apartment building on the other.   The immediate environment of the project has been the main source of inspiration in determining the vertical enveloping curve of the streetscape. It has been decided to build two e... En savoir plus

247 Residence

The 247 Residence is a 10,000-square-foot home designed for a family of three with a vast community and a penchant for entertaining. From cocktail parties to family holidays, fundraising luncheons to themed events, the family regularly welcomes guests into their home. They also have a small child, and value their privacy.   In designing their home, our goal was to optimize the space for both events and privacy, taking into account the various ways in which homeowners and guests alike will interact with the space. The home was designed to accommodate various types of events—large and small, indoors and out, casual and formal—in addition to the basic needs of day-to-day.    On the ground level, we placed a drama... Clubhouse Hockey Club Oranje-Rood

Diederendirrix designed a striking triangular pavilion with rounded corners for the new merger of the Eindhoven hockey clubs. The large canopy built from laminated wooden joists in a triangular grid is eye-catching. The structure extends from the outside into the inside and creates a special interior. The pavilion is located on a plinth consisting of an overgrown slope on one side and a stand on the other side.   Underneath, comfortable changing rooms and a physiotherapy room are fitted in. On the raised level the canteen is located, which, underneath the canopy, has a terrace overlooking the hockey fields. There is room for a business club on the pavilion’s level. The smart façades consist of light grey, preserved pine... En savoir plus

Elementary and primary freinet school

The Antwerp ring is a typical infrastructure with large scale programs being housed in even larger building volumes. In order to be in this ring culture, this new Freinetschool is looking for height by stacking a three-level primary school on top of a single-level elementary school. On a rather specific plot dragged around an existing sports hall, a school environment is sought to compact where it is needed and thaws and embraces where it is desirable. Around the polyvalent hall, the gathering place and the heart of the building, the elementary school extends in this green environment. In continuation of the polyvalent space, the playground is hidden behind the school while the building on the other side ends in a canopy that seals around t... En savoir plus

Loftwonen Block 61

Since a couple of years the former Philips-complex Strijp-S in the Dutch industrial city of Eindhoven forms the centre of redevelopment. The urban design made by Dutch Urban-firm West 8 focuses on a combination of reuse of the Philips heritage and customized new buildings. The driving force of the ensemble is creativity; creative professions and functions mixed with an urban living environment.Loftwonen is a special form of urban residence. The idea of Loftwonen is based on high rooms and flexible floor plans. Block 61, which was designed by architecten|en|en, is part of an urban composition of three housing blocks that are constructed in a similar manner. LuxMare Houses

Woonhuis Zeist

In a residential area on the edge of the Utrechtse Heuvelrug National Park, Bedaux de Brouwer Architects designed a house with a home office for a family with children. The client's wish was for a spacious and bright home with a view of the surrounding nature and sufficient privacy. Both inside and outside are made of exposed concrete, a not commonly used construction method in the Netherlands. From the street, concrete stairs guide the route along a closed facade to the front door. At the rear, the house opens to nature with large panoramic doors. By building the sleeping quarters, bathrooms and the office half-deep, the house is modestly present in the landscape. At the same time, this enriches the experience of the surrounding landscape f... Old Paper House

The building is locatedat the intersection of the Old and New Town, where styles of different architecture periods collide. The project is being developed in place of a former Soviet-era canteen around which aesthetic Old Town style buildings are established.Old near by architecture was a very important factor in the process of design. It was decided to use the color of “old” paper in order not to jump out from the architectural context. Facade, roof and exterior details are "wrapped" in an old yellow paper color.Graceful, upwards reaching volumes connected with a glass gallery reflect modernity and contemporary luxury. Such distribution of apartment buildings forms a cosy semi-enclosed courtyard with playgrounds and green recreation areas.M... En savoir plus

Villa Pernoi

House VV

The plot is located on a winding road among the typical character of Flemish landscape in a valuable residential area. Between the trees in the middle of the plot there was a bungalow that was meant to be demolished. The extended view at the back of the plot was a great advantage of the plot. The layout of the house was weighed in relation to the distances to the neighbors. With a view to maximum sunlight and the position of the existing trees, the current location of the house was placed as close as possible to the left-hand plot boundary.   The house is freely open at the rear while the view of the adjacent plots had to be controlled. The design was created from the place where it is set up. An assignment must never be a reason to impos... En savoir plus

Turó de la Peira Sports Center

The Barcelona City Council held an architectural competition for the landscape planning of an interior urban block and a sports facility consisting of an indoor heated swimming pool and a sports court.    The winning proposal was valued for its landscape integration of a singular greened building in an interior urban block and for its commitment to sustainability and respect for the environment.   URBAN REGENERATION WITH A GREEN INFRASTRUCTURE The urban environment prior to the intervention was an unstructured space consisting of a sum of residual spaces. A space occupied by a sports court tucked between neighboring buildings, and a pool of obsolete facilities. An urban landscape of hard pavement, concrete walls and total absence of ve...
