AJ Luxe Apartment

The AJ Luxe Apartment is located on the 10th floor of an apartment complex with a bird’s eye  view of the Kowdiar palace, the surrounding city and the far sighted Western Ghats. Two separate flats were combined to form a single apartment for a family of four members. The rigidity of the framework of the existing envelope and columns were indeed a challenge that we believe was resolved in the best way possible to meet the additional requirements of the client. The interior walls were reorganised and re erected to include a bigger kitchen, a home theatre, a separate study space in addition to the living room, dining room and 3 ensuite bedrooms with attached balconies. The plan was reworked without altering the structural elements an... En savoir plus

Projet • By ELLIPSIS ArchitectureBureaux

This project was a simple exercise in juxtaposition and restraint. A central, rotated cube was staged in the center of the space – a figure of faceted walnut in a field of white. Housing reception and all key operational functions of the office, the cube acts as a visual key in the space and an object of orientation. Patients and staff navigate around it as they enter, receive treatment and exit the space. En savoir plus

Palo Alto Residence

A young Palo Alto couple with three children came to us with the desire to build a more modern interpretation of the traditional home that occupied this prominent corner lot in Old Palo Alto. As a couple that loves entertaining, they envisioned a multi-purpose home with ample room for their family, as well as generous social spaces that seamlessly flow from the inside out with as little circulation space as possible. Though challenged by the constraints of their small lot, a collaborative and thoughtful approach allowed a final solution to emerge that seamlessly integrated landscape, architecture, and interiors into a cohesive whole. With our guidance, the couple’s search for comfort, efficiency, spaciousness, and light, gradually tra... En savoir plus

Country Residence

A 17th century country residence, renovated and restored to its ancient splendour, dominates the hill behind Bologna and houses the apartment of a family with a passion for art and design. Cypress trees, deer and hills surround the apartment that occupies the southern portion of the ancient villa, an imposing structure on classical lines recently renovated and brought back to life after years of abandon and neglect. The apartment is spread over 3 floors and overlooks extensive tree-filled grounds, where the family and friends get together around the table whenever work and time allow. Garden sofa and chairs by Visionnaire. The interconnecting living room and kitchen feature dark ceiling beams in contrast with the light, wide plank wooden fl... En savoir plus

Villa Altopiano

“Villa Altopiano” was built in the late 15th century as hunting lodge. After several transformations and expansion works, it gets its final setting at the beginning of the 19th century. A particular setting, a pleasant example of Bolognese manor house with porticoes and columns with Reinassance capitals, a tower with orthogonal base and a circular small tower set against it.The preciousness of the adorned and the presence of medieval crenelations distinguish it from the other buildings, as well as the roundness of the environments, the height of the vaulted ceiling, the big door windows interfacing along the long corridors.Various parts of the villa tell pieces of nobiliary and peasants’ stories, clear evocation transferred by the painted c... Robinson Beach House

A truly laid-back holiday house this design seeks to adhere to a minimal aesthetic genre, the clients wanted to create a sophisticated, textural house with a rich materiality that wasn’t overwhelming or fussy.A busy couple with teenage children, the clients were specific with their functional brief, with an elevated and relatively open and level site to work with, this house is all about orientation and creating areas for living in at different times of the day. Parkside Beach House

Taking inspiration from the iconic Mornington bathing boxes, Parkside Beach House features concrete bricks and timber batten cladding throughout. The property is ideal for multi-family use and balances open and spacious communal areas with the privacy of secluded retreats. This holiday home is designed to accommodate multiple families and guests simultaneously, creating the need for both insulated, private spheres as well as functional and welcoming communal areas. York Street House

Sited on a small inner city block, York St House reflects a type of urban architecture that is born from contextual constraints and is not only an impressive piece of small architecture that is light filled and spacious, but exemplifies contemporary Australian ideas about inner city living. For any small project and in particular dwellings; the sense of light and the quality of space is integral to the success of the project. Our design response is driven largely by context and we believe that space around the building as well as the views inside and out are amplified in small projects. So, in response to the site there were a number of ideas we prioritised. Firstly; retaining the neighbours lush Jacaranda tree which sweeps over... En savoir plus

The Diamond Residence

The Diamond Residence is located on the top floor of a landmark building on the Normandy Coast, France. This 1,300 SF two-bedroom gut-renovation was about keeping the bones but modify- ing the skin. Indeed, the existing oak wood floor just needed to be sanded to find its original glory and the perimeter windows had to remain as is. Our client is emotionally attached to this apartment. It is the place where she grew up and where she is projecting to retire. Her original program was to alter the apartment in a conservative way by updating the kitchen and the bathrooms and by preserving its character. She also requested the use of stripes as it represents Normandy’s perfect postcard of local public beach furniture. With this in mind, we pr... En savoir plus
