NY Hudson Yards

KPMB’s design of the new headquarters incorporates the following core principles: access to light and views, collaboration, and flexibility, to create an environment that is inspiring to work in. The typical workspace involves an open studio with private, glass-fronted offices at the core, a low cubicle design, and tables for impromptu meetings at the perimeter. Caption Caption Collaboration space is an essential part of the design. KPMB designed long-standing collaboration tables sited near teams to accommodate dynamic interaction over physical materials, as well as rooms dispersed throughout the studio that integrates technology and acoustic privacy to accommodate web-based meetings. Tribe By Amrapali

Retail Spaces are fast evolving beyond mere centres of material transaction; outlets for brands are often their most effective communicators of individuality and ethos, a tactile interface between the company and the customer.  Caption   Embodying the brand’s commitment to excellence carried forth over five decades, the visual lexicon developed for Amrapali celebrates indigenous craftsmanship and tactile intricacy. Tribe, Amrapali’s offshoot, caters to a younger demographic – manifesting its core values through a bolder, vibrant expression. Harvard Undergraduate House Renewal Winthrop House

Winthrop House, comprised of two Neo-Georgian former freshman dormitory buildings from 1913, had undergone few upgrades since its construction. The renewal program re-envisioned Winthrop’s residential, academic, social, and co-curricular spaces and addresses technical challenges, including significant envelope upgrades, the installation of all-new mechanical systems, and detailed restoration work for the House’s signature public spaces. Amidst the sensitive context of Harvard’s River Houses, BBB also designed Robert M. Beren Hall, a distinctive 41-bed addition that includes shared amenities for undergraduates. Working with the House Renewal Project Management Office, Faculty of Arts & Sciences, the Faculty Deans, and s... En savoir plus

Shapeshifter House

The refurbishing program for a household located in the sixth and upper floor of a Milanese apartment building asked for the making of at least three double rooms within the relatively small surface of 100sqm. Greenwich House

A new two-storey split-level house on a waterfront site cascades a series of private and public rooms in response to its steeply sloping site, landscape setting, and harbour views. It provides crafted inter-penetrations of space and light across its multiple half-levels, and offers a multi-generational model in its spatial organisation to enable room for a growing family of four with permanent accommodation for the owners’ parents.   Its formal geometry is expressed as two distinct volumes separated by an open courtyard along the northern edge, and bridged by a glazed stair circulation zone for access to light, ventilation, and divergent interior views at the centre of the house – thereby reading as a singular volume alon... This project gets its characteristic from two black horizontal discs. The bottom disc is installed in the entrance area and its curved shape reached almost the ground. Visitors reach the upper floors of this single-family home via stairs. The glazed façade and the opaque walls reflect the environment. The black building serves at the same time as an eye catcher and a shadow. The building is an architectural foreign body that fits almost unseen in the surroundings. En savoir plus

The Brearley School

Realizing a 25-Year Dream: 610 + 590 = One Brearley! The Vision for The Brearley School was to imagine a new home that would consolidate the ‘whole’ school and all divisions into a campus of buildings in close proximity to each other. After 85 years in its purpose-built premises at 610 East 83rd St., the school had doubled the student body and outgrown its original building. After a study of the options, it was ultimately decided that the new 85,000 sf building a block away from the original building, would be a gateway to the Brearley School, and accommodate the Lower School and those spaces that benefit from a larger floor plate and the ability to accommodate technical space.   The new 12-storey expansion is conceived...
