Bangkok Midtown Hotel

Bangkok Midtown Hotel is a 6-storey hotel with a multiple of public facilities such as main lobby, restaurant, swimming pool and Thai spa. The 4-star hotel is located among untidy surroundings and very close to row houses at 3 sides of the site. The only side, the front, that connected to Rama VI road is intentionally designed to engage with an open courtyard. Caption Our main concept of the project is to reinterpret a visual definition of "traditional Thai" and transform it to be "Contemporary Thai" architecture. The Thai traditional floral mobile is purposed as building facade pattern and a visual filter for both users and neighborhood. Caption The façade also acts as a second skin and sunshade of the building which cre... En savoir plus

Spring Tower

This project was a design study to explore the design language and massing for a proposed new residential tower in the Historic Core of downtown Los Angeles.  Clad in shades of blue glass, the project sought to exploit the materiality of glass in novel ways by deploying it to maximize its sense of mass and density.  Building from a deep, dark, heavily textured base, the project evolves as it rises to culminate in light blue glass where the building meets the sky, along the way transitioning from a language of dense mass to one of light planarity, enabling the insertion of recessed outdoor balconies within the upper levels. Caption Caption The massing angles and jogs as the building rises, creating relationships that al... Nest Inn

Nestled on the foothills of the Himalayas in the city of Dehradun, a facility for assisted living sits in hypnotic tranquility. The plot is around 4 acres which is surrounded by dense Mango & Litchi orchards and a British Bungalow, dating back to the Colonial Period. The approach was to capitulate to a design solution that would respect the heritage and natural environment of the site. Although the plot was in the middle of an urban landscape, it still had its independent eco-system with orchards. This instilled a sense of safety due to the site’s proximity to city-facilities yet enjoying the calming shade of green foliage. There were two necessary aspects of the site that had to be taken into consideration before starting the de... En savoir plus

Platan Tata

When it came to renovating a beloved property sitting beside an old royal castle, understanding the strengths that are available and empowering those inherent values to distil them down to their most core fundamentals was at the centre of the concept. The Platan, located beside the tranquil Old Lake in Tata, Hungary, has been renewed and reinvigorated by this very understanding. What was once a humble but reputed eatery built into the servant’s quarters of the Esterhazy family’s estate next to the royal castle, has now been transformed into a gastronomic landmark with renowned chef, Istvan Pesti, placed at the heart of the idea. With this heritage literally on the doorstep of the Platan, Gold Key award-winning designer Zoltan Va... En savoir plus
