This alterations and additions project involved the preservation of a historical Edwardian frontage, and a contemporary rear extension defined through its own material identity and form to distinguish new from old.

The refurbished single storey dwelling includes primary bedroom, ensuite and WIR, formal lounge, second bedroom and a home office.

The new extension unwinds at the rear to create a landscaped outdoor space with connections to the kitchen, dining, living, bedrooms and games room.

The zinc and cement rendered facade aims to recess the form into the landscape, limiting its impact on the retained Edwardian building.

The extension maximises natural daylight and ventilation, while perforated operable screens control sunlight and privacy, creating a ‘lantern’ effect at night.
