In January 2017 THDP were commissioned to design the Restaurant for the Hotel, situated in the unique and beautiful setting of Sorrento in Italy. An intense design process then took place as the timing before the re-opening of the hotel left us only 3 months to carry out the design and oversee the fit out.
The Hotel Mediterraneo enjoys a stunning location overlooking the Gulf of Naples, nestled in an extraordinary landscape on the Sorrentino peninsula where sea meets mountain and deep valleys and citrus groves alternate. The restaurant overlooks the sea, its view dominated by the Mount Vesuvius Volcano & the city of Naples.
Restaurant Vesuvius designed by THDP opened in April 2017 and immediately became a wonderful addition to the Hotel Mediterraneo in Sorrento.
The restaurant serves both breakfast, lunch and evening dinner and was designed to adapt itself from day to night. Metal curtains close parts of the space off, and high tables can be moved to provide differing service arrangements. Seating is provided by way of high tables for informal aperitifs, bench seating for sharing and chairs for formal dining.
