Hard Rock Cafe Bangkok

Architectkidd en tant que Architectes.

The Hard Rock Cafe Bangkok marks a progressive new approach for the Hard Rock brand. Architectkidd and Prinda Puranananda designed the new restaurant - located in the fashion and trend-setting Siam Square area - to attract visitors to connect with music and design in dynamic ways.

The starting points for the project were the shapes, rhythms and structures of sound. Their interpretation into physical forms and materials throughout the new design were the results of a creative collaboration that fused design with branding, furniture and street art. Contributors included Anon Pairot Studio and graffiti artist Alex Mardi (aka Alexface).

There is also an emphasis on re-using materials in this project, which retained parts of the existing building structure. On the exterior, the new facade is composed of reflective black panels that are cantilevered from a curved steel structure. The panels are angled so that in some places the existing building is revealed from behind.

In the interior, the stage wall designed by Anon Pairot Studio is made from recycled aluminum re-cast into solid modules. Where wood was used in the restaurant, efforts were made to retain the existing finishes from before the renovation and to also introduce reclaimed timber. The final result is a tactile and sensuous design for Hard Rock Cafe Bangkok.
