An important and iconic project for the entire city of Milan. First strong sign of change,
which has given the go-ahead in recent years to the global transformation of the city. The refurbishment intervention relates to two 23-storey buildings dating to the late 1980s, which were transformed by Progetto CMR into the first Italian “green towers”.
The sophisticated conversion process has realised zero emission buildings, thanks
to the use of geothermal energy, solar and photovoltaic panels, natural ventilation,
interactive façades and bioclimatic greenhouses. The two towers, joined by a new building which is home to all the services, rest against the station of Porta
Garibaldi and two of the main metro lines of the city; for this reason, the realisation of all the interventions was particularly complex.
The result is fascinating; high technology hidden by the façades which shine like diamonds in the sunlight, formed by interactive ventilation cells which guarantee
an elevated control of internal climatic comfort. At the forefront under all points of
view, the Garibaldi Towers are undoubtedly the new image of Milan.
