In 2008 the traditional L-shaped farmhouse was renovated and converted. In the gutted former barn, a cube of dark wood was installed with space for three separately accessible bedrooms and two bathrooms.
The modern eat-in kitchen links the old living room and bedroom with the new wing. Classic box windows in larch and matching wood floor evoke the farm sitting room. The eat-in kitchen is defined by a modern one-wall kitchen with maple tops and dove-grey linoleum facing, and a walnut table for the eating area. The roof was renovated as an unheated attic, and now has space for a Carrera racing system etc.
In 2016 the former farm building was completely renovated, gutted to the roof truss and turned into an open-air living area centred on a tiled stove with integrated stove top and oven as a one-wall kitchen.
A walkway leads to a mezzanine over the dining area, usable as a retreat, with an area of roughly 30 m2 to the north, currently used as a mattress store.
Below the former threshing floor is a small guest room with bath and its own tiled stove.
As a design element, the ventilation openings – typical for barns – were reinterpreted. Wooden pivoting or folding elements can close off or open the living room. 20 m long and 5 m wide, the building is traditionally plastered at the bottom, with wood above.
