The adaptive reuse of a former strip club into a bold and dynamic arts centre that features a gallery/event space, studios, and affordable artist housing. Whimsy, warmth, bold colours, collaborations with local artists, and uncommon attention to details allow the project to transcend the ordinary. The design sensitively blends old and new with modern insertions such as a dynamic two storey storefront of folded metal and glass with a massive wood entrance door. Aimed at contributing to the burgeoning downtown renewal well established nearby, the renovation is intended as a renewal catalyst for Hamilton’s central Gore Park area.
