Milky’s Cloud Room embraces the ethos of ‘slow coffee’ within a custom-designed shipping container construction

Embracing the ethos of ‘slow coffee’, the latest Milky’s Cloud Room location in Toronto features dynamically changing lights and a brew bar for making handcrafted coffee and tea. Designed and built by Full Fat Design, the architectural and graphic language draws from that created for Milky’s by Batay-Csorba Architecture, ensuring a familiar yet distinctly unique brand feeling.

The name Cloud Room derives from the moving light that collects shadows in the three-dimensional travertine pattern covering the walls and ceiling. Mimicking the shadows of moving clouds across the wall, light shifts at a slow pace that is imperceptible when stared at but noticeable over the time it takes to enjoy a coffee.

Contained within a shipping container located at Stackt Market in Toronto, the entire interior was custom designed to suit this condition. Miniature sized herringbone wood from Relative Space is used for the floor while the travertine walls and ceiling were machine sculpted by Marbela.

In addition, customized fibre-optic counter lights and design intelligent light fixtures are employed to add to the ambience of the concept and project the feeling that this is a space in which to take your time.
